멜번 스프링베일(Springvale)에는 숨은 맛집이 정말 많아요. 특히 베트남 커뮤니티가 형성된 지역이라 쌀국수 전문점이 굉장히 많죠. 오늘은 그중에서도 현지인들에게 인기가 많은 Pho Thin을 다녀왔어요. 따뜻한 국물 한입 먹는 순간, 왜 이곳이 입소문이 났는지 바로 알겠더라고요.

Pho Thin은 스프링베일 중심가에 위치해 있어서 Springvale Station에서 도보로 3분 정도면 도착할 수 있어요. 주변에 다른 베트남 음식점도 많지만, Pho Thin 앞은 점심시간이면 늘 손님들로 붐벼요. 그만큼 로컬들에게 사랑받는 곳이에요.

주차는 가게 앞 공영주차장을 이용하면 편리해요. 다만 점심시간에는 약간 붐비니까 조금 일찍 방문하는 걸 추천드려요. 평일에 방문해서 그런지 2시간 무료 공영주차장을 이용했는데 편리했답니다. 

 

 

2. 가게 분위기와 서비스

Pho Thin 스프링베일 지점은 인테리어가 깔끔하고, 테이블 간격이 넓어서 가족 단위로 방문하기에도 좋아요. 매장 안에는 베트남 노래가 은은하게 흘러나오고, 직원분들도 친절했어요. 주문한 음식은 5분 정도 만에 바로 나왔는데, 이 빠른 속도 덕분에 점심시간에도 회전이 빠른 편이에요. 쌀국수가게를 일주일에 한번은 꼭 방문하는데 여기는 처음이라 너무 기대했답니다.

 

 

쌀국수집에서 보지 못한 피클이 있었는데 마늘피클이였어요. 슬라이스된 마늘이 새콤하면서도 쫀득하니 쌀국수와 먹으면 정말 맛있을 것 같았답니다.

 

 

스리라차소스도 일반 소스가 아닌 직접 수제로 내온 소스같았는데 마늘피클보다 더 매웠어요.

국물은 깔끔하면서도 진한 소고기 향이 입안에 퍼지고, 한 숟가락 마실 때마다 속이 따뜻하게 풀리는 느낌이었어요. 숙주, 고수, 레몬, 고추가 함께 나오는데, 개인 취향에 맞게 넣어 먹으면 풍미가 훨씬 살아나요. 저는 레몬을 살짝 짜서 넣었더니 국물이 훨씬 산뜻해졌어요.

 

 

특히 마음에 들었던 점은 국물이 끝까지 뜨거운 상태로 유지된다는 것이에요. 마지막까지 따뜻하게 먹을 수 있어서 너무 만족스러웠어요. 고기와 파를 볶아서 국물을 낸것 같았어요. 국물이 불맛이 나면서 구수하니 정말 한국인 입맛에 딱이였던 국물이였어요.

 

 

비오는날 분명 생각날 국물이였어요. 매번 가는곳만 가다 사람들이 줄서 있는곳은 맛있는곳이다 생각해서 오늘 와봤는데 와 너무 국물이 다르고 쌀국수의 다른 매력을 느꼈답니다.

Among them, Pho Thin Springvale truly stands out — a cozy, local-favorite spot serving one of the best bowls of beef noodle soup I’ve had in Melbourne.

Located right in the heart of Springvale, just a 3-minute walk from Springvale Station, Pho Thin is easy to find. Even before I stepped inside, I could see how popular it was the place was already bustling with customers during lunchtime.

 What I Ordered

The menu at Pho Thin offers a great variety of Vietnamese pho options, from rare beef to beef balls and brisket. I ordered the Beef Special Pho, which included thinly sliced rare beef, brisket. The first sip of the broth was incredible  clear yet rich, perfectly balanced between savory and aromatic.

It wasn’t too oily or salty, and you could really taste the slow-cooked beef flavor. The dish came with a side of fresh bean sprouts, basil, lemon, and chili, allowing me to adjust the flavor to my liking. I added some lemon juice and a bit of chili, and it completely elevated the soup refreshing yet full-bodied.

 Atmosphere & Service

The atmosphere at Pho Thin is clean, simple, and comfortable. The interior isn’t fancy, but it feels warm and inviting the kind of place where locals gather for a comforting meal. Tables are well-spaced, making it suitable for both solo diners and families.

Service was quick and efficient. Even though the restaurant was packed, my food arrived within 5 minutes. The staff were friendly and attentive, always ready to refill tea or bring extra napkins. I also noticed that the broth stayed hot until the very last sip — a small detail that makes a big difference on a cold Melbourne day.

 Overall Impression

There are countless pho restaurants in Springvale, but Pho Thin is now one of my favorites. The broth is deeper and more flavorful compared to others I’ve tried. It’s comforting without being heavy perfect for both lunch and dinner.
