멜번 Chadstone에 있는 Reading 서점 방문기 조용하고 감성적인 북카페 느낌의 공간

멜번에서 쇼핑하면 가장 먼저 떠오르는 곳, 바로 Chadstone Shopping Centre죠. ‘The Fashion Capital’이라는 별명답게 전 세계 브랜드가 모여 있는 곳인데요. 저는 오늘 쇼핑이 아니라 책 향기가 가득한 Reading 서점(Reading Bookstore) 에 다녀왔어요. Chadstone 안에서도 한쪽 구석에 조용하게 자리 잡은 이곳은 쇼핑몰 속 힐링 공간이라는 표현이 딱 어울리는 곳이에요.

 

 

입구에 들어서면 바로 느껴지는 건, 종이 냄새와 함께 퍼지는 고요한 분위기예요. 매장은 크지 않지만 섹션별로 정리가 아주 잘 되어 있어서 browsing 하기가 편했어요. 베스트셀러 코너, Travel & Lifestyle, Children’s books, Cookbooks 등이 깔끔하게 나뉘어 있고, 호주 작가들의 책도 다양하게 전시되어 있어서 현지 문화를 느낄 수 있었어요.

 

 

전에 시드니 갔었을때 샀었던 책도 있더라구요. 재미있게 읽어서 기억에 남았어요. 지금은 러브스토리장르의 소설 읽고 있는데 재미있으면 추천드릴께요.

책을 한 권 고르고 계산대에 갔더니, 직원분이 추천도서를 친절하게 소개해 주셨어요. ‘요즘 멜번에서 인기 있는 작가’라며 추천해준 책 덕분에 새로운 호주 작가를 알게 되었죠. 이런 작은 대화도 Reading 서점의 매력 중 하나예요.
