멜번에는 아름다운 골프장이 정말 많지만 그중에서도 자연 경관과 코스 퀄리티를 모두 갖춘 곳이 바로 Mornington Golf Club이랍니다.

이번에 모닝턴 페닌슐라 쪽으로 드라이브 겸 골프 라운딩을 다녀왔는데, 바다와 자연이 어우러진 코스 풍경이 정말 인상적인 골프장이었어요. 멜번 시티에서 차로 약 1시간 정도 거리에 위치해 있어서 주말 골프나 골프 여행 코스로도 많이 찾는 곳 중 한 곳이랍니다.

모닝턴 골프 클럽은 1901년에 설립된 역사 깊은 골프장으로, 오랜 전통을 가진 멤버십 골프클럽이에요. 전체적으로 코스 관리가 매우 잘 되어 있고 페어웨이와 그린 상태도 상당히 좋은 편이라 라운딩하는 내내 만족도가 높았어요.

골프장에 도착하면 먼저 넓은 주차장과 깔끔한 클럽하우스가 눈에 들어옵니다. 클럽하우스 분위기도 여유롭고 클래식한 느낌이라 라운딩 전부터 기대감이 높아졌답니다.

 

 

 

클럽하우스 분위기

라운딩을 마치고 클럽하우스에서 잠깐 쉬었는데, 분위기가 정말 좋았어요.

창가 쪽 좌석에서는 골프 코스 풍경이 보이고 라운딩 후 여유롭게 커피나 음료를 즐기기 좋은 공간이었습니다. 주말에는 골퍼들이 많이 방문하는 인기 골프장이라 클럽하우스도 꽤 활기찬 분위기였답니다.

 

 

오늘도 제가 가장 좋아하는 공으로 라운딩을 즐겼는데 공 하나로 끝까지 마무라할 수 있어서 좋았어요.

 

 

 코스 분위기

모닝턴 골프 클럽의 가장 큰 매력은 바로 자연 지형을 그대로 살린 코스 레이아웃이랍니다.

코스 곳곳에서 보이는 나무들과 자연 지형이 정말 아름답고, 특히 높은 지대에서 내려다보는 풍경은 멜번 근교 골프장 중에서도 손에 꼽을 정도로 멋있어요. 날씨가 좋은 날에는 멀리 바다 풍경까지 보이는 경우도 있어서 라운딩하면서 힐링하는 느낌이 강한 골프장이었답니다.

 

 

중간중간에 간식도 먹으면서 여유로운 라운딩이였는데 개인적으로 카트 타는것을 추천드려요. 버기끌고 다니기엔 너무 힘든 코스라 다음에 올때도 카트 타려고 해요.

 

 

페어웨이는 넓은 편이지만 군데군데 배치된 벙커와 언듈레이션이 있어서 전략적인 플레이가 필요한 코스였답니다. 단순히 멀리 치는 것보다 티샷 위치와 세컨샷 공략이 중요한 골프장이라는 느낌을 받았어요.

 

 

 라운딩 후기

라운딩을 하면서 가장 좋았던 점은 코스 관리 상태였어요.

페어웨이 잔디 상태도 좋고 그린도 꽤 빠른 편이라 퍼팅할 때 집중력이 필요했답니다. 특히 몇몇 홀은 그린 주변에 벙커가 잘 배치되어 있어서 어프로치 샷이 중요하게 느껴졌어요.

 

 

모닝턴 골프 클럽은 전체적으로 전통적인 파크랜드 스타일 코스 느낌이 강해요. 큰 나무들이 코스를 둘러싸고 있어서 호주 특유의 자연적인 분위기를 그대로 느낄 수 있는 골프장이었답니다,

라운딩을 하면서 느낀 점은 코스 자체가 과하게 어렵지는 않지만 전략적인 플레이가 필요한 골프장이라는 것이었습니다. 그래서 초보 골퍼부터 중급 골퍼까지 모두 재미있게 라운딩할 수 있는 곳이라는 생각이 들었답니다.

 

 

너무 너무 아름다운 뷰 보면서 라운딩 즐기니 정말 천국같았어요. 호주에 있으면서 골프 안치면 정말 손해라는 말이 100% 인정되는 날이였답니다.

 

 

생각보다 쉽지 않은 코스였지만 그래도 더 집중해서 쳐서 그런지 스코어는 나쁘지 않았어요.
